Mobility-challenged fishing

Find it hard to get around, especially on the water? The Post-Gazette will hold a free mobility-challenged fishing event Sun., May 18 on Loyalhanna Creek in Westmoreland County. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the state will block motor traffic on the low cement Sleepy Hollow bridge connecting eastbound and westbound Route 30 west of Ligonier, one mile east of Route 217. The Fish and Boat Commission will waive license requirements and provide participants with rods, tackle and adaptive gear, and outdoors editor John Hayes and members of Forbes Road Trout Unlimited will serve as fast-water fishing coaches. Live bait, bottled water and pizza provided. Registration required at 412-263-1991 or jhayes@post-gazette.com.
