B Square Mount and Scope
I was able to get my B Square mount and True Glo scope mounted on my Mossburg 535 12 gauge tonight. I think it looks great and the eye relife is perfect.
The next step is shooting it in for spring turkey. I am also thinking about camouflaging the gun with spray paint. What are your thoughts on spray painting a shotgun?

I wonder if any of these people have disabilities and or; are looking out for hunters who are disabled... I doubt that was considered when making up this board.

Turkeys in Oakland
I have seen several wild turkeys on the Pitt campus over the years, but these three made the Pittsburgh Post Gazette today. I wonder if I could set up an urban blind and harvest a big Tom with my crossbow....lol

Electronic Call Use in Pa
Yesterday I received a response from the Pennsylvania game commission regarding my special permit to use electronic calls in Pennsylvania. The request was approved, so I will be able to use the electronic call legally for spring turkey season!
The entire process was really easy and I encourage any individual with a disability to apply for the permit. I would also like to thank Senator Solobay for his help and support.

GAME COMMISSION HTE CLASSES STARTING TO FILL UP
HARRISBURG – With the junior spring gobbler season set for April 21, and the general spring gobbler season opening on April 28, Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe is reminding all first-time license buyers to make plans to attend a Hunter-Trapper Education (HTE) course now.
To register for a course in your area, visit the Game Commission’s website (www.pgc.state.pa.us), and click on the “Hunter Education Classes” icon in the center of the homepage. From here, you can elect to take either the basic “Hunter-Trapper Education” course, which is a 10-hour course held on two or more days; or the “Hunter-Trapper Education Independent Study” course, which is a home-study course followed by a one-day, four-hour classroom review and test. Once determining which course format best fits your schedule, you can register online by selecting a course in your area and then following the instructions.

Truglo Gobble Stopper Xtreme Choke Tube
I just installed the Truglo Gobble Stopper Xtreme Choke Tube on my Mossberg 535 shotgun. I will be shooting it at the wounded warrior HAM and BACON shoot this weekend. I hope the choke tightens up my pattern for spring gobbler this year. The next thing I need to get on my shotgun is my scope, but that will have to wait.

Game Commission Letter
My letter to the Pa Game Commission to obtain a special use permit for an electronic call. Its going in the mail today, so I hope to get a answer before Spring Turkey season comes in...
My name is Greg and I would like to apply
for a special permit to use an electronic call while hunting in Pennsylvania. I
am a person with a disability, quadriplegic, paralyzed from the chest down with
no hand movement. I also have limited lung capacity and have difficulty using a
diaphragm call.
Using an electronic call would enable me to be
more independent while hunting. As you can imagine I use a lot of adaptive hunting
equipment in order to maintain as much independence as possible. Thank you for
your consideration in this matter, I hope you understand the need for this
special permit.
Sincerely,
Greg Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Mini Phantom Digital Call Review
The Mini Phantom Digital Call runs on 3 AAA batteries that are included. It has a green LED On / Off light and volume control wheel, with automatic shut off after 2 minutes. The unit came with two sound sticks, featuring 5 calls each (mini Predator and Mini Gobbler).
I think it will make me more independent this Spring Gobbler season....
Now its up to the Pa Game Commission to give me a special use permit to use an electronic call.

Pa Hunting License
HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 7, 2012 -- /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe said, starting Feb. 13, hunters and trappers no longer have to display their licenses on an outer garment, but they still must have their licenses in their possession while afield, as well as a secondary form of identification, such as a driver's license.
House Bill 735, sponsored by Rep. Keith Gillespie (R-York), was unanimously approved by the House on June 15, and was approved by a vote of 46-3 in the Senate. Gov. Tom Corbett signed the bill into law on Dec. 15, but the change in law didn't take effect for 60 days.
I like the idea of keeping my hunting license in my backpack. But I know some people will stop buying a license because they no longer have to display it. I hope the Game Commission increases license and safety checks to make sure all hunters are properly licensed.
Will out of state hunters try to avoid the high cost ($101.70 + tags) of out of state license's... What are your thoughts ?

Electronic Call Use in Pa
I received a reply from the Pa Game Commission and Senator Solobay on Friday about using an electronic call for turkey hunting in Pa. Here is the next step...
You may apply for a special use permit, which are issued in very limited circumstances for hunters with specific disabilities that require accommodation outside the standard authorizations in the law or regulations. You will need to write a letter requesting a special use permit explaining the situation and provide specific medical documentation of your disability from your medical doctor, including phone number and name of your doctor. The request should be directed to the following:
Pennsylvania Game Commission
Bureau of Wildlife Protection
Attn: Special Permits Enforcement Division
2001 Elmerton Avenue
Harrisburg, PA 17110-9797
When received, it will be reviewed and considered. Normal processing time is six to eight weeks, but because contact will have to be made with the doctor and there is the possibility for additional medical documentation. You should allow at least 12 to 16 weeks for this type of special request.

Game Commission Regulations
In Pennsylvania it is currently illegal to use electronic calls for hunting wild turkeys. As a person with a disability (quadriplegic) I am unable to use my hands and using an electronic call would make me so much more independent.
I recently contacted the game commission and my State Sen. to start the process of changing this regulation. I believe many individuals with disabilities would benefit from the use of electronic calls.
I just started this process, what are your thoughts? Would you support the use of electronic calls for individuals with disabilities hunting in Pennsylvania?
