B Square Mount and Scope

I was able to get my B Square mount and True Glo scope mounted on my Mossburg 535 12 gauge tonight. I think it looks great and the eye relife is perfect.

The next step is shooting it in for spring turkey. I am also thinking about camouflaging the gun with spray paint.  What are your thoughts on spray painting a shotgun?

I wonder if any of these people have disabilities and or; are looking out for hunters who are disabled... I doubt that was considered when making up this board.

Turkeys in Oakland

I have seen several wild turkeys on the Pitt campus over the years, but these three made the Pittsburgh Post Gazette today.  I wonder if I could set up an urban blind and harvest a big Tom with my crossbow....lol

Electronic Call Use in Pa

Yesterday I received a response from the Pennsylvania game commission regarding my special permit to use electronic calls in Pennsylvania. The request was approved, so I will be able to use the electronic call legally for spring turkey season!

The entire process was really easy and I encourage any individual with a disability to apply for the permit. I would also like to thank Senator Solobay for his help and support.

GAME COMMISSION HTE CLASSES STARTING TO FILL UP

HARRISBURG – With the junior spring gobbler season set for April 21, and the general spring gobbler season opening on April 28, Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe is reminding all first-time license buyers to make plans to attend a Hunter-Trapper Education (HTE) course now.

To register for a course in your area, visit the Game Commission’s website (www.pgc.state.pa.us), and click on the “Hunter Education Classes” icon in the center of the homepage.  From here, you can elect to take either the basic “Hunter-Trapper Education” course, which is a 10-hour course held on two or more days; or the “Hunter-Trapper Education Independent Study” course, which is a home-study course followed by a one-day, four-hour classroom review and test. Once determining which course format best fits your schedule, you can register online by selecting a course in your area and then following the instructions.

Truglo Gobble Stopper Xtreme Choke Tube

I just installed the Truglo Gobble Stopper Xtreme Choke Tube on my Mossberg 535 shotgun.  I will be shooting it at the wounded warrior HAM and BACON shoot this weekend.  I hope the choke tightens up my pattern for spring gobbler this year.  The next thing I need to get on my shotgun is my scope, but that will have to wait.

Game Commission Letter

My letter to the Pa Game Commission to obtain a special use permit for an electronic call.  Its going in the mail today, so I hope to get a answer before Spring Turkey season comes in...

My name is Greg and I would like to apply for a special permit to use an electronic call while hunting in Pennsylvania. I am a person with a disability, quadriplegic, paralyzed from the chest down with no hand movement. I also have limited lung capacity and have difficulty using a diaphragm call.

Using an electronic call would enable me to be more independent while hunting. As you can imagine I use a lot of adaptive hunting equipment in order to maintain as much independence as possible. Thank you for your consideration in this matter, I hope you understand the need for this special permit.

Sincerely,
Greg
