Magnus Broadheads really do have the best guarantee in the industry.  I sent back a couple of Buzz Cut 100 grain heads and Diane from Magnus had these back to me very quickly.  I like how these heads fly like field points and penetrate great.  Thanks Magnus for the fantastic customer service!

I like the Magnus Buzz Cut 100 grain four blades, they fly like field tips and have a lifetime warranty. Plus they look great on my crossbow, lol.  

Doe License 2013

Time to send in our Pa doe license for 2013.  County Treasurers start pulling applications this Monday morning.  I am trying to get a doe license in 2B and 2D this year.

I plan on using Magnus Buzz Cut Broadheads, 4 blade, 100 grain this year.  I hope to try these heads on a few mature doe before going after monster buck in Illinois this fall. What is your plan to put meat in the freezer?

Magnus Stinger Buzzcut Broadheads

I shot these broadheads this weekend and love them.  The 100 grain buzzcut with 2 bleeder blades flew exactly like my field points and had great penetration. I maybe finished with Rage broadheads.

These heads also have a lifetime replacement guarantee, yeah... at any time send it back to Magnus and they send you a new broadhead.  What are your thoughts?

I am glad Rage decided to fix the issue of the blades popping open prematurely.  I wish they didn't charge an additional $7.99 for the fix...

Just taking the broadheads out of the quiver can pop them open, it's always something I have to check when my crossbow is loaded for me.

Rage Chisel Tip

Rage just came out with a new chisel tip broadhead.  I am a big Rage fan and will be using them again this fall. The Rage Chisel Tip is available in three versions. The 2-blade Rage Chisel Tip has a 2-inch cutting diameter and is available in both 100- and 125-grain weights. The 100-grain 3-blade has a 1.5-inch cutting diameter. What is your broadhead of choice ?

Ram Cat Broadheads

A friend of mine uses these broadheads and was very successful this year. I may give these a try next year. What are your thoughts ? Have you used this broadhead ?

Broadheads and Long Shots

I was on Field & Stream Magazine's message board this morning when I ran across this question asking about what type of Broadhead would provide accuracy out to 100 yards?

The person lived out west and stated he has heard of guys taking shots at 100 yards... To me that is extremely irresponsible and increases the odds of wounding an animal.  Ethically I would never take a 100 yard shot at an animal with my crossbow.

I shoot mechanical broadheads ( Rage two blade 100 grain ) at the archery range and consistently group shots out to 50 yards.  I never shoot beyond that distance at targets, and would never think of shooting a deer at that distance, let alone 100 yards.

I pass on a lot of deer because they are too far away or I am unable to get the best shot.  I think we owe it to the animals we pursue as responsible hunters.  It's just my opinion, but the 100 yard archery shot is the type of publicity hunters and archers can live without.

Crossbows, Bolts and Broadheads

If you talk with five different people and ask them.... what's their favorite crossbow?   You will certainly get five different answers.  I'm curious to hear yours, but here is my favorite crossbow.

The Parker Buck Buster 175 is an unbelievable crossbow, costing hundreds of dollars less then comparable models.  It carries a lifetime warranty and sends bolts downrange at 330 fps.  I shoot very tight groups with this Parker out to 50 yards.

I shoot 20 inch carbon Hunter Crossbow Arrows which fly straight every time.  They are also durable during the practice season in the summers.  I may get a few refletched this spring with some fluorescent orange fletching in order to make them easier to find after the shot.

I practice with 100 grain field points all summer long and then switch to the Two Blade 100 grain Rage Broadheads for deer hunting in September.
